This is my last blog of the summer, but I have had a great time writing about my life and enjoyed the opportunity to support such a great organization.

If any of you have read any of my previous blogs, you would know that I work for Alberta Newsprint Company (ANC).

I have worked in the Forestry Industry for three summers now, one summer in Operations, directly working in creating Newsprint and the last two summers working in the accounting department, working on behind the scenes things that keep the company flowing smoothly.

Welcome to my second blog of the summer, I have had quite the exciting week and wanted to show some pictures of the experience and for the ones I don’t have pictures of I will explain.

Right off the hop fishing was a big highlight of the summer. There is no lack of fishing opportunity around High Prairie and I didn’t even go to a fraction of the lakes and rivers I wanted to.

Here is a timeline of some photos and videos since May to show some of what we did and saw over the summer.

A few weeks ago, I headed down to Swan Hills with my friend and co-worker Taya to cast a few lines and do some camping. We didn’t catch any fish, but there wasn’t room for complaints with such good company and conversation.

Ask any business sector what the basic principles of supply chain management are – and the answer invariably comes down to affordable and reliable transportation services. Unfortunately for Canada’s forest products sector, the present system is neither affordable nor reliable.

My summer position and my educational background is all STEM heavy and technical, so I figured a good first entry would be a brief explanation of how the process at the mill works so we can better understand how I fit into it.

My name is Samantha and I thought a great way to start off my role as a Green Dream Intern for the Forest Products Association of Canada was to give a quick introduction to myself and how I ended up working with Al-Pac as a summer student.
