Kimberley Berube-Boyle: La Côte-Nord et ses étendues d’eau: FPAC 2022 Green Dream Internship Program

Saviez-vous que la superficie du territoire occupée par l’eau est plus importante que celle occupée par la forêt sur la Côte-Nord? L’eau à elle seule compose plus de 49 % du territoire, alors que la forêt en compose un peu plus que 45 %.  

La Côte-Nord est représentée par un réseau hydrographique important qui alimente la production d’hydroélectricité grâce à ses nombreux barrages. D’immenses rivières découpent le territoire… la rivière Betsiamites, la rivière aux Outardes, la rivière Manicouagan, la rivière Godbout, la rivière Romaine et plusieurs autres. D’autant plus, le territoire est composé de plusieurs grands lacs et de réservoirs, comme le réservoir de Caniapiscau et le réservoir Manicouagan. Ces grandes étendues d’eau laissent place à de nombreuses chutes, plusieurs accessibles à tous et d’autres cachées, mais prêtes à être découvertes par les adeptes de plein air qui arpentent le territoire de fond en large.
