Saviez-vous que le Nitassinan signifie « Notre terre » en innu-aimun et qu’il s’agit du territoire occupé par les Innus depuis plus de 8 000 ans?  

En fait, l’unité d’aménagement dans laquelle Produits forestiers Résolu Côte-Nord opère, soit la 093-51, fait partie du Nitassinan. Vous comprendrez maintenant l’importance d’entretenir de bonnes relations avec la communauté autochtone à proximité, soit la communauté de Pessamit, afin de pouvoir harmoniser le territoire de façon à ce que les deux parties soient gagnantes.

La certification FSC®, soit celle sur laquelle mon stage était basé, consacre un principe complet de sa norme aux communautés autochtones afin d’assurer la prise en compte de leurs préoccupations et demandes face aux activités d’aménagement qui ont lieu sur le territoire du Nitassinan.
