Nearly 200,000 Canadian jobs depend on a strong forest sector
Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) welcomes today’s announcement of the Government of Canada’s new Advisory Committee on Economic Relations between Canada and the United States.
Representation from Canada’s forest sector on the Committee will only strengthen the discussions and ensure the voices of Canada’s forestry employees and communities are clearly heard.
"Our forest sector is a cornerstone of Canada–U.S. trade and the Canadian economy, supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs and deeply integrated supply chains on both sides of the border. Ensuring Canadian forestry’s voices are reflected in these discussions will be critical to strengthening prospects for our sector and its people while advancing important discussions around shared economic growth and stability," said Derek Nighbor, President and CEO of FPAC.
FPAC looks forward to supporting the work of the Committee and engaging constructively with the Government of Canada, including Minister LeBlanc, Ambassador Wiseman, and senior officials, to strengthen Canada–U.S. economic ties and support integrated supply chains, shared economic growth, and reliable cross-border trade.
