6:10 AM – I wake up, get dressed, use the washroom, and make my coffee. While my coffee is brewing, I pack my lunch. I usually take leftovers from the night before or a salad. Once I am ready to go, I brush my teeth before heading out the door.

6:30 AM – My mom also works at the mill with the same schedule, so we head to work together!

6:37 AM – When we get to work, we sign onto swipedon and head to our desks. When I get to my desk, I fill my water bottle then log on to my computer, checking teams and emails first for any high priorities. Afterwards, I take a look at the ML Logbook and the Daily Scorecard from the day before.

7:00 AM – This summer a big part of my job for production is helping roll out the new pay for skill program. Currently I am going through an excel sheet with all the SWP’s (Safe Work Procedure) and SOP’s (Safe Operation Procedure) needed and creating their document. Below is a photo of an example SWP format document.

9:00 AM – I take my 15-minute break.

9:15 AM - Usually, my boss is busy with meetings until 9:00AM.  I try to chat with him around this time every day to see if he needs a different task done or to just keep him updated with my work.

9:30 AM – I continue making the documents for the SWP or SOP until my lunch. However, today I was asked to recreate a team leader's visual management board for morning meetings with his crew.

11:30 AM – Today for lunch, I had a dill pickle salad, with a kit kat.

12:00 PM– The first thing I do is head over to the lab to see if they need my help with any tasks. Today I was supposed to grab samples from the Primary Screens for a trial. However, when I went to touch base with our Project Engineer in the lab, he said we will have to wait till tomorrow. Since the lab did not need my help, I went back to my desk to work on the SOP and SWPs.

12:20 PM – I worked on converting certain SWP’s into a SOP format.

2:00 PM – I had my second 15-minute break.

2:15 PM – One of my main tasks this summer for the lab is labelling the blending area of the mill. When you enter the area, you must wear a half mask.

4:00 PM – I head home from work.

4:07 PM – First thing I do when I get home after work is let my dog Buster outside. After I let him out, I had to wash the instant pot container so I could cook chicken tonight for supper. After preparing the chicken, I put a load of laundry in and relaxed until laundry needed to be changed and chicken was done.

7:00 PM – I went up to the corral and worked with my horses. They were both doing great except when velvet got her medicine, she was not impressed!  (See photo below for proof). Treasure did not need medicine, so she was happy!

8:30 PM – We ended up eating supper later than expected, but we had chicken sandwiches which were delicious and then I helped my parents pack for the long weekend.

9:30 PM – I took a shower, brushed my teeth, and got ready for bed.

10:00 PM – I lay in bed and watch TikTok’s for a bit.

10:45 PM – I start to drift off to sleep.
