Annika Clark: Working for Interfor Adams Lake: 2023 FPAC Green Dream Internship Program

I began the summer excited about the opportunity ahead, but I didn’t know what to expect. I was working in a brand-new field and working for a company I didn’t know much about. The interview with Interfor seemed promising. The company preached good values and the internship position seemed interesting.

When I walked through the doors at the Adams Lake office, I was immediately welcomed. The forestry superintendent smiled and said, “We are so excited to have you here”. I met my supervisor, and he explained to me his focus for the summer was to make sure I had the best learning experience. It only took one day for me to realize I had made the right decision.

As the summer progressed, I realized Interfor was true to their values and upheld their word. Likewise, my supervisor went out of his way to provide new learning opportunities as well as challenge me in ways that I didn’t expect. I worked on projects that involved 3D modeling, I created map templates and I got to apply my coding skills to multiple different projects. It wasn’t just the GIS team that provided support, the woodlands staff was always open to questions.

Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my choice to work for Interfor. They are a company that believes in their people and provide you the resources to succeed. The team that works at Adams Lake is supportive and knowledgeable. There are not enough good things I can say about my experience this summer with Interfor.

For those looking into working in forestry or wondering what good companies exist, look at Interfor.
