Welcome to my second blog of the summer, I have had quite the exciting week and wanted to show some pictures of the experience and for the ones I don’t have pictures of I will explain.

Right off the hop fishing was a big highlight of the summer. There is no lack of fishing opportunity around High Prairie and I didn’t even go to a fraction of the lakes and rivers I wanted to.

Here is a timeline of some photos and videos since May to show some of what we did and saw over the summer.

A few weeks ago, I headed down to Swan Hills with my friend and co-worker Taya to cast a few lines and do some camping. We didn’t catch any fish, but there wasn’t room for complaints with such good company and conversation.

Ask any business sector what the basic principles of supply chain management are – and the answer invariably comes down to affordable and reliable transportation services. Unfortunately for Canada’s forest products sector, the present system is neither affordable nor reliable.

My summer position and my educational background is all STEM heavy and technical, so I figured a good first entry would be a brief explanation of how the process at the mill works so we can better understand how I fit into it.

For the first few weeks at Tolko, my three coworkers and I spent our days meeting everyone in the Woodlands division, organizing equipment and going through various field and online training.
